March Agreements

To ensure that the march is as strategic and empowering as possible, we ask to you to comply with the following agreements!

  • I will be dignified in dress, demeanor, and speech. (As much as is possible on a 43 mile march, that is!)

  • I will be entirely peaceful and nonviolent. Under no circumstances will I harm people or property.

  • I will be respectful of the communities that we are marching through, and will strive to act in ways that reflect positively on the group and on our movement.

  • I will act in accordance with our group’s agreed plan for action. I will not speak or act in ways that contradict the intention of our group.

  • The organizers have designated and prepared representatives to speak to the police during the entire march and to elected officials and staff during the Monday morning event in the State House. I will defer to these representatives and will not speak on behalf of the group to police or to elected officials and staff in the State House.

  • I will knowingly and freely assume all risks, even if arising from the negligence of others, and assume full responsibility for my participation.

  • I will bring an open mind, curiosity, and an eagerness to learn, and I will be willing to challenge my own assumptions and beliefs.
